One Minute: George MacPherson

Part Three of Our London Fashion Week Street Style Series, With New Videos Throughout the Day

Public relations guru George MacPherson wears one of his dapper signature looks in the third installment of director Dennis Swiatkowski’s One Minute street style series, filmed during London Fashion week. Earlier today we ran videos of stylist Ondine Azoulay and celebrated fashion illustrator Quentin Jones; check back later for to see vibrant design duo Agi & Sam in action. “They’re portraits in motion, capturing personalities through music, movement, expression, and fashion—it’s street style 2.0,” says Swiatkowski of the shorts, which he initially developed for his Get Your Plane Right On Time blog. The Amsterdam-based photographer and filmmaker, whose work has appeared in Vogue Italia, Vice, NYLON, and Dutch culture tome Blend, dropped into London and honed in on some of Fashion Week’s most stylish attendees. As UK PR Director at Starworks, McPherson’s client list includes the likes of Lacoste, Swarovski, Jack Spade, and Hogan. Here he reveals his style credo and closet favorites.

What was your fashion week highlight?
It’s always the finale of each show, from Marios Schwab, Jonathan Saunders, Peter Pilotto, Roksanda Ilincic, E. Tautz, and MAN.

Describe your style in a sentence.
My color blindness often creates interesting color combinations.

What do you think is unique about London street style?
We are steeped in sartorial history, unlike many other places. I think dressing well (or not) is in our blood, and, in London particularly, tradition combines with the contemporary effortlessly.

What’s the first thing you do once Fashion Week is over?
Put a hood on. Or go for a swim. Or both.

What is your most prized in-closet possession?
It’s probably a knit from Jonathan Saunders’ first men’s collection last year, or a beautiful tuxedo I was given by my old friends at A. Sauvage. Or an original Louise Gray menswear T-shirt.
